About the role
- Provide strategic support for larger/complex self-funded clients, including data analytics support (e.g., PATH, Zakipoint, and carrier data warehouse systems).
- Interpret and provide cost/plan design recommendations.
- Counsel clients on cost-effective ways to provide a robust benefits package that aligns with the company’s overall business strategy.
- Develop recommendations for clients on alternative carrier or third-party solutions that support Health Management initiatives.
- Provide context to trends and variances to illuminate identified opportunities and perceived weaknesses and risks.
- Develop self-funding cost projections for clients considering moving from fully insured or quasi-insured arrangements.
- Prepare customized, summary-level reporting and present these in face-to-face meetings with key decision-makers, such as CEOs, CFOs, and HR Directors.
- Train and mentor teammates, internal matrix partners, and external stakeholders on reporting processes and methodologies.
- Analyze health data from various sources, including claims data, electronic health records, and population health databases.
- Provide expert advice to clients on health information management, data utilization, and best practices in health program implementation.
- Assist in the design and implementation of health programs and initiatives aimed at improving patient care and population health.
- Ensure compliance with relevant health information regulations, including HIPAA, HITECH, and other federal and state laws.
- Develop and deliver training programs for healthcare providers and staff on health information management and data utilization.
- Work closely with internal teams, engaging with external stakeholders to promote health information initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, Public Health, Data Analytics, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- 5+ years as a health information consultant, with at least 5+ years working within the insurance brokerage industry.
- Strong knowledge of health data systems, electronic health records, and health information regulations.
- Advanced data analytics and presentation skills with the ability to “tell the story” from the data.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex health data and generate actionable insights.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present findings to diverse audiences.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and software (e.g., Excel, SQL, Tableau).
- Relevant certifications (e.g., RHIA, RHIT, CHDA) are a plus.
- A team player who works collaboratively with internal colleagues, clients, vendors, and prospective clients.
