About the role
- Lead and oversee the safety program for the Reno, Nevada office, implementing company strategic safety initiatives and fostering a safety-first culture.
- Partner with the Safety Director, project managers, and superintendents to embed safety into daily operations and assist in development and implementation of safety strategies.
- Potentially supervise safety coordinator(s), providing coaching and mentorship.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, Workplace Violence, DOT, EPA, and NFPA standards; assist with OSHA inspections, reports, posters, citations, and hearings.
- Lead incident investigations and root cause analysis; track corrective actions to completion and assist with vehicle/equipment incident reporting.
- Deliver on-site safety training, toolbox talks, and onboarding for new hires and subcontractors; facilitate field engagement sessions and behavior-based observations.
- Conduct regular safety audits of job sites and facilities; report findings and corrective action plans to Safety Director; track TRIR, DART, MVIR, near-misses, and safety suggestions.
- Maintain Emergency Action Plans (EAP), Pre-Task Plans (PTPs), Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Method of Procedures (MOPs), and site-specific safety plans (SSSPs); support high-risk activity planning (hot work, confined space, trenching, electrical LOTO).
Requirements
- 5-10 years of safety management experience in construction, MEP, manufacturing, and/or field service industries.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations, NFPA 70E, ANSI standards, and DOT/FMCSA requirements.
- Valid NV Driver’s License and clean driving record (travel to sites required).
- Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, Industrial Hygiene, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience), a plus.
- Construction Health & Safety Technician (CHST) (highly desirable).
- OSHA 500 Certified.
- OSHA 30 (Required within last 5 years).
- NFPA 70E Trained.
- CPR/First Aid Trained (required).
- Fluent in English and Spanish (preferred).
