About the role
- Lead engineering operations for cloud platforms and engineering-delivered services
- Design and guide delivery of robust Azure-based infrastructure
- Establish and manage operational service measures such as service levels and performance targets
- Lead incident and problem management activities
- Reduce manual effort by identifying repetitive tasks and driving automation
- Build and improve CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code processes
- Develop and maintain operational runbooks, observability standards, and monitoring practices
- Partner with engineering and product teams
- Engage stakeholders to communicate performance, risks, and improvements
- Promote best practices in engineering operations and continuous improvement
- Mentor and support the development of engineers across operations functions
Requirements
- Minimum 12 years of relevant experience
- Strong understanding of Azure services including compute, storage, networking and platform components
- Knowledge of Azure governance practices including RBAC, Azure Policies, compliance and governance rollouts
- Proficiency with infrastructure‑as‑code tools such as Terraform, ARM templates, Azure PowerShell and YAML
- Experience creating and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps
- Strong skills in incident and problem management
- Familiarity with observability tools like Azure Monitor, Datadog or any other APM platforms
- Ability to apply engineering and automation principles
- Understanding of service management processes and tooling such as ServiceNow
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- Experience mentoring, guiding and developing team members
- Awareness of cloud cost, capacity and optimisation practices
- Strong understanding of Azure IaaS and PaaS foundations including VNets, Subnets, Firewalls and NSGs
- Experience with scripting and programming languages such as Python, PowerShell, Shell
- Experience with container and orchestration technologies including Kubernetes, Helm charts, Kyverno, and container registries
- Familiarity with RedHat OpenShift and related container platforms
- Experience using security and quality scanning tools such as SonarQube and Checkmarx
- Working knowledge of Linux, Windows, OCI, Serverless services and Databricks
- Experience with Power Platform and Power BI for automation and reporting.
- Ability to independently solve problems and build robust solutions with minimal supervision.
