Task 1: Analysis of Underwater Imagery A. Quantify fish and selected invertebrates in all imagery provided; B. Assist in the measurement of key species using stereo imagery.
Task 2: Data Management and Analysis A. Compile data into Excel or equivalent databases; and B. Assist with data QA/QC.
Task 3: AUV Shoreside Support and Maintenance Be available for in-person assistance with shoreside operations related to AUV maintenance. A. Assist with moving, assembling, and maintaining AUV equipment; and B. Maintain detailed notes during maintenance activities.
Requirements
Proficiency with standard computer applications (MS Word, Excel, etc.) and strong written and verbal communication skills
Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in fisheries, oceanography, social science, natural science, mathematics, hydrology, or a related field from an accredited institution
A minimum of three (3) years of relevant professional experience, or a total of seven (7) years combined education and experience. A Master’s degree may substitute for the experience requirement
Familiarity with west coast groundfish species and ability to identify them in underwater imagery
Ability to identify west coast corals and other benthic invertebrates from imagery
Experience with statistical tools and spreadsheet/database software
Prior experience analyzing underwater imagery
Experience using image analysis software specific to AUV-collected data
Ability to lift up to 30 pounds for equipment handling and AUV maintenance
