About the role
- Lead, coach, mentor and inspire a dedicated team of onshore and offshore developers to architect, build, deploy and support best-in-class software solutions
- Guide a high-velocity, multi-functional development team focused on green-field technology platforms
- Daily oversight of the development and enhancement of a series of prototypes to test design concepts for target state capabilities
- Manage multiple concurrent projects
- Estimate, plan and slice projects to deliver frequent value to production
- Leverage technical expertise and latest tech stack to implement software development best practices
- Implement application resiliency, scalability and performance design
- Oversee and participate in design and development of high-volume, low-latency mission-critical applications using Oracle PLSQL, Oracle Forms/Reports, Python (ETL & AWS preferred)
- Work with Product Owners and Product Managers to translate business problem statements into technical solutions and plan Sprints
- Collaborate across business units and product teams to build product vision and deliver business value
- Assist in technical assessment of risks and issues, and document recommendations
- Coordinate solution design with Architecture, Data, Infrastructure, and Business leaders to optimize speed to market
- Work actively with quality assurance, Release Management, and DevOps to ensure SDLC processes are adhered to
- Coach the team in developing technical documentation once production build commences
- Communicate with technical and non-technical groups regularly as part of product support
Requirements
- Minimum of 4 years of demonstrated development tech/team leadership
- Minimum of 8 years of experience within a combination of Oracle PLSQL, Oracle Forms/Reports, Python (ETL & AWS preferred)
- Minimum of 3 years of AWS experience, AWS (container and server-less), and/or front end technologies including CSS, Semantic HTML and Responsive Design
- Minimum of 5 years of expertise with Source Control such as GIT, Bitbucket or TFS
- CI/CD experience with TeamCity/Octopus/Jenkins/Jules
- Minimum of 3 years of financial services/brokerage firm experience required
- AWS Certified (preferred)
- Team Foundation Server/Visual Studio
- ETL Tools experience to work vendor data feeds and data from operational systems
- Knowledge in designing, refactoring, and unit testing
- Good Understanding of Document Object Model (DOM) and DOM Functions
- Excellent knowledge of OOP concepts, data modeling design patterns/frameworks
- Experience with DevOps, release management, and CI/CD
- Experience with Unix/Linux platform and systems with knowledge of unix commands for general debugging, scripting
- Experience and knowledge of secure FTP and other file transfer protocols
- API based file transfer experience is a plus
- Experience and knowledge with automated job control tools like DIS job controller, Autosys, Activebatch, Apache Airflow
- BS or advanced degree in Computer Science, IT or related field (listed under Core Competencies)
- Finance Domain experience
- Experience with Waterfall and Agile development process
- Risk management, contingency planning
- Excellent Communication and Coaching skills with demonstrated capacity to build consensus and empower developers
