About the role
- Develop and implement more complex Excel-based testing models for Variable, Fixed, Indexed, Immediate and Deferred Income Annuities to ensure the accuracy of our illustration system(s), including but not limited to: adding new products to existing spreadsheet models, creating new spreadsheets for new products, and updating existing spreadsheets for product changes.
- Analyze and prepare spreadsheets for the Illustration and technical system(s) with each release to verify product accuracy.
- Lead in debugging the Illustration and technical system and determine the sources of differences from the benchmark tool.
- Add new products and update existing products as needed in the NY Reg 60 spreadsheet.
- Respond to queries from distribution regarding product illustrations and projections.
- Clarify product design and calculations using benchmark test tools.
- Serve as a resource for ad hoc annuity product pricing and risk analysis assignments as needed.
- Perform and deliver on routine assignments/projects while simultaneously leveraging and applying knowledge of your assigned area(s) of responsibility.
- Maintain knowledge on current and emerging developments/trends for your assigned area(s) of responsibility, assess the impact, and collaborate with management to incorporate new trends and developments in current and future solutions.
- Promote and enhance organizational initiatives by positively influencing and supporting change management and/or departmental/enterprise initiatives within your assigned area(s) of responsibility.
Requirements
- 4 Year/Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in mathematics, computer science or similar technical field
- 3 – 5+ Years of Experience in modeling or programming that directly aligns with the specific responsibilities for this position
- Advanced Spreadsheet and programming experience with VBA or other similar languages
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills, detail-oriented, independent, motivated, innovative
- Ability to work with others in a collaborative team environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong understanding of annuity products and markets preferred
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret both internal and external documents
- Apply mathematical concepts such as probability, statistics, modeling, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical solutions
- Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- Evaluate trends in data or information.
- Demonstrated solid relationship management skills with internal clients (e.g. management, peers and colleagues)
- Demonstrates excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload and multi-task while maintaining strict attention to detail.
- Demonstrates solid project management skills, including critical ability to coordinate and balance multiple projects under pressure in a time-sensitive environment and meet deadlines.
