About the role

  • Work 1:1 with consultants to develop tailored business plans, from identifying target markets to creating visibility strategies across networking, events, and thought leadership.
  • Spot and secure speaking slots, sponsorship opportunities, partnerships, and introductions that raise the profile of the firm and our consultants.
  • Lead initiatives in boosting the success of the WLS internal referral network across the community.
  • Help strengthen existing client relationships and identify opportunities to cross-sell our services.
  • Maintain strong relationships with existing partners while identifying and securing new opportunities for growth.
  • Manage inbound media opportunities for our consultants, liaise with legal directories, local press, and PR contacts.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and sector developments to inform BD strategies and give consultants a competitive edge.
  • Work with the marketing team to deliver targeted campaigns that support BD objectives and turn prospects into long-term relationships.
  • Work collaboratively with other team members responsible for the overall strategy and implementation of the consultancy model and lawyer success.
  • Work closely with our lawyer success team to ensure the smart allocation of incoming enquiries to support the success of our consultants.

Requirements

  • Proven business development experience – ideally in the legal sector.
  • Experience optimising events with measurable BD outcomes.
  • A natural networker – confident representing the firm at events and building rapport quickly.
  • Commercially aware, with an eye for spotting and developing opportunities.
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills – able to adapt to different audiences.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively.
  • A proactive, creative mindset – with the confidence to bring new ideas to the table.
