Act as a first point of contact for employee relations issues; investigate and help resolve concerns in a fair, timely, and consistent manner
Ensure all documentation for HR investigations are documented thoroughly, in compliance with state and local laws
Assist in the administration of performance review cycles and coach managers on best performance management practices
Help develop and maintain internal training and development programs and ensure accurate recordkeeping of PIPs, termination requests, and performance evaluations
Collaborate with Director of HR to prepare managers for conflict resolution discussions, termination calls, or performance management discussions
Administer and track leaves of absence (FMLA, CFRA, PDL, etc.), coordinate benefit continuation, and act as point of contact for employees on leave
Maintain and manage employee records and HRIS systems (Paylocity); collaborate on onboarding and offboarding, separation documents, and Unemployment claims
Administer and track mandatory compliance training and assist in developing, updating, and communicating HR policies and employee handbook
Oversee new hire benefits enrollment, open enrollment periods, COBRA communications; liaise with benefits providers and administer retirement plan enrollments
Serve as point of contact for workplace injuries, file workers’ compensation claims, and develop return-to-work plans with leadership if applicable
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree and 2-4 years of HR Generalist or equivalent experience; OR HR Certificate/education and 3-5 years of HR Generalist or equivalent experience
Experience with handling confidential HR and personnel matters
Knowledge of leave of absence administration, including knowledge of FMLA, PDL, CFRA, FLSA and California state leave benefits
Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build trust and promote collaboration across all levels of the organization
Experience working with HRIS systems and employee data entry/recordkeeping
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Growth-oriented mindset with a desire to improve current processes
Knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
Solid knowledge of California HR labor law, HR compliance and best practices
Ability to learn and comprehend new computer systems as needed (e.g. new HRIS system)
Self-starter with the ability to work independently in one of our Irvine, CA office
Preferred: SHRM or PHR certification
Preferred: Experience with Paylocity
Preferred: Experience supporting open enrollment and benefits education
