About the role

  • Act as a first point of contact for employee relations issues; investigate and help resolve concerns in a fair, timely, and consistent manner
  • Ensure all documentation for HR investigations are documented thoroughly, in compliance with state and local laws
  • Assist in the administration of performance review cycles and coach managers on best performance management practices
  • Help develop and maintain internal training and development programs and ensure accurate recordkeeping of PIPs, termination requests, and performance evaluations
  • Collaborate with Director of HR to prepare managers for conflict resolution discussions, termination calls, or performance management discussions
  • Administer and track leaves of absence (FMLA, CFRA, PDL, etc.), coordinate benefit continuation, and act as point of contact for employees on leave
  • Maintain and manage employee records and HRIS systems (Paylocity); collaborate on onboarding and offboarding, separation documents, and Unemployment claims
  • Administer and track mandatory compliance training and assist in developing, updating, and communicating HR policies and employee handbook
  • Oversee new hire benefits enrollment, open enrollment periods, COBRA communications; liaise with benefits providers and administer retirement plan enrollments
  • Serve as point of contact for workplace injuries, file workers’ compensation claims, and develop return-to-work plans with leadership if applicable

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 2-4 years of HR Generalist or equivalent experience; OR HR Certificate/education and 3-5 years of HR Generalist or equivalent experience
  • Experience with handling confidential HR and personnel matters
  • Knowledge of leave of absence administration, including knowledge of FMLA, PDL, CFRA, FLSA and California state leave benefits
  • Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build trust and promote collaboration across all levels of the organization
  • Experience working with HRIS systems and employee data entry/recordkeeping
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Growth-oriented mindset with a desire to improve current processes
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
  • Solid knowledge of California HR labor law, HR compliance and best practices
  • Ability to learn and comprehend new computer systems as needed (e.g. new HRIS system)
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently in one of our Irvine, CA office
  • Preferred: SHRM or PHR certification
  • Preferred: Experience with Paylocity
  • Preferred: Experience supporting open enrollment and benefits education
