About the role
- Review and analyze complex customer contracts to evaluate and document revenue accounting treatment under ASC 606
- Partner with Sales, Deal Desk, Operations, and Professional Services to identify performance obligations and ensure timely, accurate revenue recognition
- Drive timely month-end and quarter-end financial closes and coordinate with Accounting, Financial Reporting, and FP&A
- Support FP&A with revenue performance analysis and prepare ASC 606 financial statement disclosures and auditor responses
- Evaluate, automate, and streamline revenue processes to improve efficiency and close-cycle effectiveness
- Contribute to ASC 606 compliance assessments (Material Rights, Standalone Selling Price) and provide ad-hoc financial analysis for executive leadership
- Serve as liaison with Financial Systems and external consultants to implement and roll out a revenue automation platform
- Identify and implement AI-driven solutions to enhance team capacity, productivity, and contract review efficiency
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 5+ years of hands-on, progressive ASC 606 revenue recognition accounting experience
- Deep expertise in SaaS revenue accounting (ASC 606), including variable consideration, material rights, and contracts with customer opt-out clauses
- In-depth knowledge of the quote-to-cash cycle and ASC 606 principles for complex contract review
- Proven ability to independently own projects and forge cross-functional relationships
- Experience with large-scale ERP and CRM systems (NetSuite, Salesforce) and revenue automation software (e.g., Zuora RevPro or equivalent)
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Ability to embrace and drive change in a fast-paced environment and identify process improvements
- Highly resourceful, resilient team player with strong accountability
- Expectations of AI use: accelerate contract reviews by extracting revenue terms; automate SOPs and workflows; research and summarize ASC 606 guidance; draft initial technical accounting memos; summarize meeting transcripts and action items
