Business Development Manager – Intellectual Property

AI Engineer

• Serve as the primary owner and subject matter expert for the firm’s Legal GenAI platforms.
• Develop and execute a comprehensive roadmap for platform adoption, integration, and enhancement in alignment with firm strategy and practice group needs.
• Collaborate with the Technology & Innovation Committee (TICo), practice group leaders, and business services to identify, prioritize, and implement high-impact use cases.
• Monitor industry trends, peer firm activities, and emerging technologies to ensure King & Spalding remains at the forefront of legal AI innovation.
• Oversee the deployment and integration of GenAI solutions into existing legal workflows, including K&S Canvas, iManage, legal research platforms, and eDiscovery services.
• Work closely with IT, security, and data teams to ensure seamless, secure, and scalable platform operations.
• Lead pilots, proofs of concept, and phased rollouts, capturing lessons learned and driving continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with Enablement and Training teams to develop training, documentation, and best practice resources for lawyers and staff at all levels, including onboarding, certification programs, and practice-specific modules.
• Establish and support a network of AI champions and super users within each practice group, assisting in activities such as prompt management and promotion for reuse.
• Gather user feedback, monitor adoption metrics, and drive initiatives to maximize engagement and value realization.
• Ensure all platform use aligns with firm policies, client guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
• Develop and maintain protocols for data privacy, ethical AI use, and quality control, including review and validation of GenAI outputs.
• Collaborate with the General Counsel, Privacy, and Security teams to manage risk and respond to client inquiries regarding AI use.
• Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as AI-assisted matter volume, revenue, profitability, and user satisfaction.
• Analyze platform impact on alternative fee arrangements, write-offs, and matter efficiency.
• Report regularly to firm leadership on platform performance, challenges, and opportunities.

Legal GenAI Platform Specialist

• Work with the Practice Group Leaders of Special Matters and Government Investigations on developing and executing BD strategies aligned with firm and practice priorities
• Support the Practice Group Leaders of the Government Matters and Regulation Practice, as needed
• Collaborate with senior lawyers and the business development team on visibility and practice initiatives, cross-selling opportunities and special projects
• Collaborate with other Business Services Departments, including Recruiting, Pricing, Pro Bono, on cross-team projects
• Collaborate with the business development team to adopt change management strategies and continued maintenance and tracking of key data to increase attorney adoption of Foundation, the firm’s experience management system
• Position the firm’s strengths in the marketplace and coordinate efforts by junior team members on thought leadership, rankings/awards, and pitches and proposals
• Lead firm-hosted business development events, including receptions, client entertainment outings, substantive presentations, webinars, etc., working closely with participating lawyers and Marketing Dept. colleagues on invitation list development, event materials, participant tracking, engagement, on-site management, and targeted follow-up activities
• Provide cross-functional support when necessary
• Work with the Directors of Business Development in creating, troubleshooting and implementing new processes and procedures
• Support the Business Development Leadership to ensure that department processes are documented to ensure effective onboarding/training and knowledge transfer across team

Senior Business Development Manager – Special Matters, Government Investigations

Human Resources

• Ensure confidentiality of all Human Resources matters
• Answer inquiries from firm personnel regarding policies and procedures, using discretion and judgment in providing information
• Maintain confidential employee personnel records and update employee information in Workday
• Compile reports and analyze data
• Verify employment information for current and former employees
• Assist with immigration matters including maintaining files and monitoring critical deadlines
• Assist with coordination of annual reviews and appropriate documentation
• Manage invoices for payment in the ChromeRiver system
• Assist in recruitment process by initiating and reviewing background checks and coordinating employee start dates and orientation
• Work with the Conflicts department to ensure conflicts are cleared
• Actively participate in the Firm’s Service Excellence Initiative
• Assist in departure process; include exit interview forms and documents to communicate final pay and PTO accruals
• Coordinate and plan HR events

Human Resources Coordinator

• Act as a product owner of one or more components of Workday, ensuring accurate configuration and business process design for all assigned areas.
• Respond to assigned support cases in a timely manner, proactively communicating to business users and collaborating with other HRIS team members as required.
• Author clear and detailed documentation for assigned Workday changes in a manner consistent with established standards.
• Provide technical assistance to end-users, troubleshoot issues, and collaborate with HR and other departments as required.
• Explore and leverage Workday’s capabilities to improve business processes, deliver new features, and optimize Workday functionality and usability to enhance the overall user experience.
• Develop and maintain Workday reports and dashboards.
• Support organizational Workday strategy by managing system enhancements, coordinating upgrades, and leading adoption initiatives.
• Lead and support new Workday feature implementations both within Human Resources and outside the department.
