About the role

  • Be part of KBR TRMC Big Data and Knowledge Management Team supporting DoD Test Ranges and acquisition programs
  • Create, edit and maintain technical documentation: how-to guides, presentations, system administration guides, installation guides, end user training materials, API documentation, wiki pages and technical reports
  • Collaborate with software engineers, system architects, system administrators, data scientists, data engineers, data analysts, trainers and program managers to ensure accuracy
  • Review and edit documentation created by technical staff and adhere to DoD documentation standards, style guides and templates
  • Manage document version control and configuration and support the public release process for documentation
  • Proactively identify areas for documentation improvement; design, develop, enhance and rewrite existing documentation and wiki pages
  • Assist training staff in development of technical presentations and training sessions for technical and non-technical audiences
  • Work collaboratively with graphics designers to create and enhance documentation graphics
  • Present to large technical and non-technical groups and communicate professionally with customers and teammates

Requirements

  • Only US citizens will be considered
  • Active DoD Secret Security Clearance required
  • 5+ years of technical writing experience within the DoD environment
  • Bachelor's degree in English, Technical Writing, Computer Science, or related field (Equivalent experience may be considered)
  • Must reside near a military installation
  • Proven experience writing for DoD audiences and familiarity with DoD documentation standards
  • Proven experience documenting complex software systems, including big data platforms, cloud-based architecture, and data analytics tools
  • Knowledge of Big Data technologies (e.g., Spark, Kafka)
  • Experience with DoD Test and Evaluation (desired)
  • Experience writing for a software intensive product team (desired)
  • Proficiency with documentation tools and wiki tools such as Confluence
  • Experience with automated documentation tools (desired)
  • Experience working with highly technical teams of engineers and scientists
  • Experience working in a remote/distributed team environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication and confident presentation skills
  • Ability to travel 25% with potential surge to 50% to support DoD ranges & labs
