About the role
- Support Principals and leadership in identifying, pursuing, and winning new business opportunities.
- Draft and coordinate proposals, pitches, and qualifications packages, ensuring quality and timely submission.
- Conduct research on prospects, market trends, and competitors to inform pursuit strategies.
- Help maintain and improve BD infrastructure, including pipeline tracking, reporting, and CRM systems.
- Contribute to pricing strategies, teaming, and negotiations by preparing materials and analyses and leading communications with internal and external stakeholders.
- Represent KS at industry events and conferences, building relationships with clients and partners.
- Maintain proposal infrastructure, including templates, resume libraries, and project content databases.
- Ensure proposals and BD materials are repurposed into compelling marketing and thought leadership content.
- Contribute to KS’s marketing strategy by developing editorial calendars, content and managing channels (social media, website, newsletters, etc.). Write and design branded content that reflects the firm’s voice and values and wins project work, including newsletters, firm bios, project one-pagers, and service overviews.
- Draft and update firm marketing materials, including case studies, resumes, and project sheets.
- Support firmwide visibility initiatives, including conference submissions, presentations, and rebranding efforts.
- Ensure consistency and quality of KS’s external communications and brand voice.
- Leverage internal and external design resources to drive visual storytelling and identity.
- Maintain and evolve brand consistency across channels—including presentations, reports, digital content, and visuals.
- Track and report on performance of marketing initiatives, using analytics to inform continuous improvement.
- Manage and coach junior team members and interns, including assigning work, providing feedback, and ensuring deliverables meet KS’s standards.
- Delegate and oversee BD and marketing tasks, ensuring high-quality outcomes while also contributing directly where needed.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across the firm to support client delivery and align BD/marketing with project work.
- Help refine internal systems and processes for more efficient BD and marketing operations.
- Act as a role model for KS’s values and contribute to building a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performance culture.
Requirements
- 3-6 years professional experience in business development, marketing, or communications for a professional services firm (urban planning, economic development, real estate, or related field strongly preferred).
- Demonstrated success supporting business development efforts and producing high-quality proposals, pitches, and marketing materials.
- Strong writing, editing, and presentation skills with a sharp eye for detail.
- Experience creating and executing marketing campaigns across digital and traditional channels.
- Experience with CRM systems, pipeline tracking, and BD/marketing tools, such as Mailchimp, Hootsuite, Google Analytics, Adobe Creative Suite or Similar.
- Comfort managing multiple projects, deadlines, and stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience managing and reviewing the work of junior staff or interns; demonstrated ability to “work through others” as well as contribute individually.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills across sectors.

- Ability to travel up to 15-30% of time.
