About the role
- Serve as the primary legal advisor on trade compliance matters for Jabil’s operations across Europe and the Middle East, providing guidance to site trade compliance teams and business leaders.
- Provide legal counsel on EU customs and export control regulations, including the EU Union Customs Code, EU Dual-Use Regulation (EU) 2021/821, national export control regimes, and related customs programs.
- Advise on tariff classification, customs valuation, and country of origin determinations, including preferential trade agreements and rules of origin applicable across European and Middle Eastern jurisdictions.
- Support compliance with special customs procedures such as inward processing, outward processing, bonded warehousing, and authorized economic operator (AEO) programs.
- Oversee implementation of trade compliance policies, internal controls, and reporting standards across multiple sites to ensure consistent regulatory compliance.
- Conduct and oversee trade compliance risk assessments across sites and third-party relationships; identify gaps and lead mitigation and corrective action efforts.
- Support government interactions, including customs audits, regulatory inspections, licensing reviews, and enforcement inquiries across relevant jurisdictions.
- Support training initiatives and provide ongoing guidance to strengthen trade compliance awareness across business and operational teams.
- Monitor regulatory developments and coordinate with U.S. and global trade compliance teams to ensure alignment on cross-border regulatory requirements, including export controls, sanctions, and customs programs.
Requirements
- Law degree from an accredited institution.
- 7+ years of experience in export controls and customs law within Europe.
- Experience engaging with European customs authorities, export licensing agencies, or similar regulatory bodies.
- Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret complex regulatory frameworks and apply them in operational environments.
- Ability to communicate complex regulatory requirements clearly to non-legal stakeholders.
- Fluent in English; additional European or Middle Eastern language capabilities are a plus.
- Licensed attorney in good standing in a European jurisdiction.
