About the role

  • Inspire and model collaboration and problem-solving across Business Operations team, managing team of five business leaders across Analytics & Business Systems Optimization, Prospect Research & Management, Global Donation Operations, Strategy & Planning, and Financial Planning & Analysis, and team of ~40 staff, across multiple geographies in the US and Europe.
  • Act as strategic thought partner to IRC COO and External Relations Leadership Team on matters related to revenue strategy, organizational strategy, data strategy, business health, and investment strategy.
  • Develop your network of NGO leaders to bring insights on best practices and industry trends to COO and ER leadership team.
  • Lead the development of External Relation’s multi-year strategy with the goal of doubling private revenue by 2033, working closely with your team and peers.
  • Oversee the progress against the ER Theory of Change and all key ER critical initiatives related to Strategy100, including IRC’s “Impact @ Scale” efforts including both private strategies and corresponding data/reporting strategy
  • Oversee development and execution of multi-year ER Data Strategy, part of the multi-year strategy.
  • Enable External Relations to make data-driven fundraising and marketing decisions to drive optimal spend and revenue.
  • Develop annual and multi-year revenue forecasts for private revenue businesses across High Value and Mass Market fundraising.
  • Oversee the effective management of the External Relations budget, ensuring proper spend controls and accurate reporting.
  • Collaborate with Executive Board leadership, including CFO, to ensure timely updates and transparency on IRC’s private revenue position and be a strategic voice in executive meetings on IRC’s revenue opportunities
  • Provide effective, efficient, best-in-class prospect research and management services to fundraising teams, enabling proper segmentation of donors and portfolio allocation and ensuring IRC’s due diligence processes are adhered to.
  • Continuously improve the effectiveness and efficiency of technology and operations for processing revenue and reporting private revenue.
  • Ensure tight collaboration with finance, programs and IT departments to ensure financial systems enable the smooth collection and allocation of revenue.
  • Steward the Business Operations People Plan, creating a positive work environment and maintaining culture of inclusion.
  • Act as a key member of External Relations Leadership team and IRC’s Senior Leadership Group, modeling the IRC Way and acting as a connection point between departments.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree preferred in economics, business administration, public administration/management, international development or related field experience
  • Extensive work experience in strategy, analytics and /or financial planning.
  • Extensive demonstrable experience in a management role for a large organization or an International NGO and experience supporting, leading, guiding and developing large teams;
  • Extensive international experiences (10+ years) and comfort in working across cultures and within complex organizational structures
  • Proven ability and successful track record in seeing the “big picture” in complex situations by analyzing multiple data and information, applying theoretical frameworks and/or performing strategic analysis or by considering a broader perspective;
  • Ability to perform strategic business planning including settling organizational objectives, overseeing competitive analysis, strategy implementation and opportunity/innovation recognition.
  • Strong solution-oriented approach and ability to problem solve under high levels of ambiguity and uncertainty;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
