About the role
- Work with prospective veterinary school candidates, helping them identify opportunities to enhance their profiles and draft compelling application materials
- Manage relationships with applicants and families while providing strategic and tactical guidance on school selection, personal statements, CVs, recommendations, interviews, and the overall veterinary school application process
- Identify optimal veterinary schools and programs for individual students; provide detailed feedback and guidance on their research into specific schools, ensuring alignment with the student’s background, goals, and specialty interests
- Support students with project planning, helping them create and adhere to effective timelines through Excel-based trackers or other tools
- Stay up-to-date on the veterinary school application process, including VMCAS (Veterinary Medical College Application Service) requirements, GRE preparation, and program-specific criteria, to advise prospective and existing clients on appropriate school selection and application strategies
Requirements
- 3rd or 4th year veterinary student, or graduate of a top U.S. veterinary school
- Experience mentoring students through the veterinary school application process; admissions committee or selection board experience preferred but not required
- Passion for mentoring and supporting students
- Strong planning and organizational skills to manage complex application timelines
- Excellent English reading, writing, and editing skills for impactful materials
- Clear verbal communication skills to provide effective feedback
- Project management skills to keep students on track during the application process
