About the role
- Define and adhere to delivery strategy, collaborating and communicating to bring the wider team on the journey
- Partner with sector and service heads to ensure the service meets user and business needs
- Translate strategic objectives and problem statements into an actionable vision for projects, products or services
- Support product management to manage and plan stakeholder engagement and dependencies
- Assist in assembling high-quality tenders and market the organisation’s capabilities to win work
- Maintain and develop client relations and manage a consultancy sales pipeline focused on project controls-based offerings
- Collaborate with Product Managers to define roadmaps and translate them into user stories
- Work with external suppliers and wider stakeholder dependencies on integrated delivery roadmaps
- Report delivery performance against plans and escalate performance issues to senior leadership
- Facilitate dynamic planning, prioritising work based on team capacity and capability
- Implement Agile and Lean principles to maximise efficiency and minimise waste where appropriate
- Foster a positive team environment, coach and remove roadblocks, and monitor team well-being
- Monitor budgets, risks, and dependencies to ensure smooth project execution
- Identify areas for process enhancement and drive maturity within the organisation
- Set clear goals, recruit and onboard employees, and oversee digital capabilities and training framework
Requirements
- Experience in leading delivery teams using agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Kanban)
- Understanding of how to apply agile principles in a complex, scaled environment
- Proven ability to manage relationships and communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, including senior executives
- Experience in leading and developing multi-disciplinary teams, fostering high-performing, inclusive and collaborative culture
- Strong track record of delivering complex digital projects and programmes
- Experience managing scope, risks, budgets, and timelines
- Demonstrated problem-solving ability and facilitation of continuous improvement
- Experience in financial management and ensuring effective financial controls
- Knowledge of GDS delivery desirable but not essential
- Experience of working within Defence or Public Sector desirable
- Supplier management experience
- Previous consulting experience preferred
- Experience in digital delivery, technology, or related disciplines
- Agile, Prince2, Scrum Master or SAFe are highly desirable
- Must hold, or be expected to achieve, National Security Vetting (to SC/DV levels)
- Ability and willingness to travel in support of the business; commutable to Bristol (typically within 50 miles along the M4/M5 corridor)
