About the role

  • Coordinate all aspects of HMA logistics between Glovis, HMA National/Regions, ports, HMMA and HMGMA.
  • Collaborate with the Sr. Group Mgr., Logistics to support strategy and roll out for changes in logistics such as the addition of new plants, new ports, changes to port/regional alignments, etc.
  • Acts as liaison between Glovis and HMA for all aspects of logistics to include ocean shipments, port/plant processing, and transportation to dealers, fleet accounts, etc.
  • Assist Sr. Group Mgr., Logistics with planning for HMA production/logistics from new plants, new ports, changes in port/regional alignments, etc.
  • Monitor and implement improvements to Glovis processing and shipping by ports and inland transit.
  • Responsible for department invoicing from Glovis to HMA including but not limited to reviewing all invoices, approving in GEIS system, working with Glovis and HMA Finance on aged invoices, etc.
  • Ensure GEIS system has proper edits, etc. (approx. $300 million annually).
  • Work extensively with other departments like After-Sales, Legal, and Finance on logistics, i.e. damaged vehicles, port quality, parts supply, Glovis invoicing, etc.
  • Assist in handling all aspects of vehicle damages with Glovis Claims Department – classifying “critical” damaged vehicles, instruct Glovis on negotiations between carriers and dealers on “gray area” claims, work with HGMA Legal/Engineering on determining total loss vehicles.
  • Produce reports to assist with Glovis performance monitoring and accountability.
  • Tracks and reports wholesale on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
  • Prepares reporting materials for monthly governance meetings.
  • Process regional requests for dealer flooring reimbursements due to late deliveries, etc.
  • Track Class II (damaged units) for dealer purchase or disposal at auction.
  • Coordinate the disposition of these units with the appropriate departments.
  • Acts independently to address Glovis challenges and recommend preemptive corrective actions.
  • Monitors and reports out performance metrics for ports, railheads and route performance and sets IT development to improve GUS monitoring.
  • Acts as Project Manager for logistics improvement initiatives.
  • Leads Glovis performance review meetings; tracks wholesale estimate accuracy.
  • Develops and directs personnel to leverage administrative support.
  • Manage vehicle damage classifications, Glovis invoice approvals, monitoring Glovis performance, Glovis overtime approval, etc.
  • Approves damage classifications and invoices, review by manager only as needed.

Requirements

  • Must be a high school graduate.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Master’s degree a plus.
  • Eight or more years of Distribution/Logistics experience, preferably with a major automotive importer.
  • Regional distribution experience with same is a plus.
  • Strong computer skills including Excel and Powerpoint.
  • Database program ability a strong plus.
  • SAP, CAARS, AS400 experience and the ability to create various queries in these systems a strong plus.
  • Understanding of vehicle damage repair estimates.
  • Common sense, good follow up, self motivated, ability to get along with and motivate people including vendor staff and HGMA co-workers.
  • Tableau or similar analytics/visualization experience is a plus, but not required.
