About the role
- Own and manage Howden’s central and local social media presence across Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn and emerging channels.
- Proactively plan, create and publish engaging content that builds brand awareness, drives engagement and supports commercial goals.
- Act as the go-to social media partner for our branch network, coaching and supporting branches to improve the quality and consistency of their local activity.
- Run branch drop-ins, training sessions and clinics to build confidence and capability.
- Build and evolve Howden’s social media influencer strategy, identifying relevant creators, ambassadors and partners, setting objectives and guidelines, and managing activity end to end.
- Monitor social trends, cultural moments and competitor activity, turning insight into timely, relevant content.
- Manage day-to-day community engagement, comments and reactive activity.
- Lead competitions, giveaways and community-focused social initiatives.
- Track performance, analyse results and share insight to improve future activity.
- Create and adapt compelling, on-brand content for social channels, taking core campaign or business content and translating it into engaging, channel-appropriate social activity.
- Act as the conduit between branches and the Communications Centre of Excellence, gathering local stories, insight and assets, and shaping clear briefs for newsletters, blogs and PR, ensuring social insight and local context are reflected.
- Film and edit short-form video content for social channels.
- Create or brief visual assets using tools such as Canva, or via our in-house studio, optimised for social platforms.
- Ensure all social and supporting content is compliant, accessible and aligned with brand and FCA guidelines.
- Support the rollout of national and local marketing campaigns from brief through to delivery and evaluation.
- Translate campaign strategy into clear, practical toolkits and guidance that branches can easily activate.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, keeping stakeholders aligned and delivery on track.
- Support events and local activations where required, including coordination of materials and content.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a social-first or content-led marketing role, ideally B2C or retail.
- Hands-on experience managing and growing professional social media accounts.
- Experience creating engaging written, visual and video content for different audiences.
- Strong understanding of what makes content perform across different platforms.
- Experience supporting multiple stakeholders (branches, regions, franchises or similar environments is a plus).
- Comfortable working across multiple projects in a fast-moving environment.
- Experience working within brand and regulatory frameworks (financial services experience helpful but not essential).
- You must be based and have the right to work in the UK.
- You must hold a full driving licence as regular travel to our branches is required as part of the role.
