About the role

  • Responsible for all aspects of contract management from tendering to final execution
  • Develop contract strategy and project proposals based on policies, requirements, budget and timescales
  • Ensure portfolio follows contract and claim management methodologies according to internal procedures
  • Review and comment on commercial and technical tender terms and conditions
  • Identify contract baseline and highlight areas of potential risk and opportunities
  • Ensure timely and accurate execution of commercial aspects (payments, claims, variation orders, warranties, guarantees)
  • Assess contract success and document lessons learned for closeout process
  • Establish and enforce standard change methodologies and quantify additional time and compensation
  • Enforce and defend contractual interests, support negotiations with Legal and handle disputes
  • Support drafting of Purchase Orders, Contracts, Supply Contracts and Subcontracts and ensure appropriate contract terms
  • Analyze contract terms to highlight potential opportunities and risks and implement mitigation plans
  • Ensure contract insurance provisions are adhered to and coordinate with Insurance Risk Management
  • Ensure export control matters are reviewed with Legal and restrictions considered
  • Provide people leadership and development, organize, staff, and develop subordinates

Requirements

  • In depth knowledge of construction law, contract administration and cost management
  • Strong educational history in Quantity Surveying / Contract Management
  • Professional accreditation such as MRICS or similar is desirable
  • Quantity Surveying and / or Law Degree is essential
  • Strong Organizational, leadership and communication skills
  • Experience working within high-profile, regulated environments
  • Ability to manage priorities and deliver to tight deadlines
  • Extensive experience working for a main contractor or OEM
  • A proven track record in managing contracts and overseeing project costs
  • Experience in the energy section is preferred but not essential
  • Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail and strong communication skills
