About the role
- To deliver the procurement requirements across the company’s operations in the UK and EU, providing a value-adding, effective and efficient service to internal customers across Rocksavage, Thornton, Heath and any other sites/offices.
- To support the delivery of business strategy and objectives through cost effective procurement of raw materials, goods, spares and services whilst complying with all applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
- Direct line management of a Procurement Officer.
- To lead and manage a Procurement Officer to ensure their day-to-day activities are fully developed, allowing them to maximize their contribution to the business.
- Develop relationships with key stakeholders to understand and deliver their requirements.
- Act as a partner to deliver business objectives whilst minimizing costs and maximizing value.
- To work closely with the EMEAI Procurement Manager to develop the UK & EU engineering and non-engineering goods and services procurement strategies.
- Identify opportunities for improvement in area of responsibility, working with key stakeholders and procurement team colleagues.
- Provide support to the EMEAI Procurement Manager to develop and implement engineering purchasing processes, procedures, contractual standards and commercial relationships.
- Ensure end user requirements are delivered and supplier relationships are established, maintained, monitored, developed and improved.
- Provide support to the EMEAI Procurement Manager to enable monitoring and reporting for engineering and non-engineering goods and services purchasing expenditure.
- Engage with stakeholders to influence their understanding of best commercial options and compliance with the agreed strategies and processes to ensure delivery of business goals.
- Provide development support for the direct report, to enable them to achieve a high level of performance.
- Manage appraisal, selection and negotiation with appropriate suppliers for the procurement of engineering materials and services of medium complexity to meet the business’s commercial and technical needs and therefore ensure that they are purchased upon optimal terms and conditions.
- Develop supplier relationships and ensure suppliers are managed and their performance monitored and improved.
Requirements
- CIPS qualified or demonstrable experience.
- Extensive experience in a Senior Procurement Officer or equivalent role.
- Proven track record in mentoring and managing team members.
- Strong understanding of commercial and purchasing systems, processes, and procedures.
- Solid knowledge of supplier and contractor management.
- Excellent negotiation and influencing skills.
- Comprehensive experience in contracts and contractual relationships, including drafting and managing purchasing terms and conditions.
- In-depth understanding of supplier selection strategies and evaluation methods.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships across diverse stakeholders.
- Strong IT proficiency, including experience with SAP and Microsoft Office, particularly advanced Excel skills.
