About the role
- Develop, lead, and execute comprehensive state government affairs strategies in the Midwest region.
- Represent Hims & Hers with executive branch officials, legislators, regulators, and other key stakeholders, acting as a senior leader and advocate in high-stakes discussions.
- Oversee and direct Hims & Hers’ external representation in meetings, public forums, hearings, and coalition discussions, ensuring alignment with company priorities.
- Oversee the creation and delivery of policy materials, including testimony, position papers, and public communications.
- Build and maintain influential relationships with trade associations, coalitions, policymaker organizations (including legislators, governors, and AGs), and regulatory boards, successfully advancing Hims & Hers’ interests within those organizations.
- Provide oversight and direction to external consultants and lobbyists, ensuring effective advocacy and alignment with company goals.
- Anticipate, monitor, and analyze legislation and regulation in the Midwest region affecting Hims & Hers business priorities, including pharmacy compounding, privacy, AI, and telehealth issues.
- Partner with internal leaders to ensure alignment between business priorities and public policy goals.
- Lead the design and evolution of the company’s political giving strategy and broader political engagement initiatives.
- Spearhead coalition-building efforts on key policy issues critical to Hims & Hers’ growth and customers.
- Establish Hims & Hers as a recognized leader in policy discussions, conferences, and task forces.
- Identify and drive opportunities to elevate Hims & Hers’ voice in shaping the future of healthcare policy, particularly in support of personalized telehealth services.
Requirements
- 12+ years of experience in state government affairs and public policy; familiarity with privacy, AI, and telehealth policy issues.
- Deep understanding of political and regulatory processes in the Midwest U.S. states.
- Proven track record of shaping and achieving results with state legislatures, governor’s offices, regulatory boards, and trade associations.
- Exceptional strategic thinking, writing, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
- High political acumen, with significant experience designing and executing political engagement and giving strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to operate as a senior leader in a fast-paced, mission-driven, highly collaborative environment.
- Willingness to travel as needed within the region and to national conferences and events (up to 30%).
