About the role

  • Provide dedicated support to the Legal and Compliance team.
  • Establish, implement, and enhance workflows and administrative procedures.
  • Support public company M&A and financing transactions, including assisting with the creation of transactional documents and closing books.
  • Assist in structuring and restructuring initiatives, including incorporation of new entities, ownership changes, and corporate reorganizations.
  • Collaborate with external law firms across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Develop and maintain legal processes, systems, and technology updates, including the implementation and maintenance of our Contract Management System.
  • Contribute innovative ideas to improve processes and policies.
  • Assist with the administration of the company’s lease portfolio.
  • Manage the company’s insurance portfolio.
  • Maintain the company’s minute books and assist external counsel with corporate filings.
  • Assist with public company continuous disclosure obligations, including diarization of deadlines, and drafting and proofreading of basic securities forms and filings.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers.
  • Oversee day-to-day administrative tasks, including organizing and maintaining departmental records, scheduling meetings, working with other departments to provide documents or request signatures.
  • Assist with additional legal and administrative duties as required.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in corporate/commercial law.
  • Post-secondary Certificate or Diploma with a Legal Assistant designation.
  • Experience with Contract Management Software, and Level 1 Cores accreditation is preferred.
  • Knowledge of insurance, M&A, or securities law an asset but not required.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Collaborative team player with a proactive mindset and problem-solving ability.
  • Genuine interest in our work and a willingness to learn new skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and proofreading ability.
  • Skilled at prioritizing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite and comfort with adopting new technology.
