About the role

  • Analyzes and maintains accurate daily refinery yields, determining profit and loss for the refinery
  • Monitors the timely completion of routine staff accounting duties
  • Oversees day-to-day accounting operations
  • Supervises and completes special projects as required
  • Maintains General Ledger Accounts
  • Performs bank reconciliations and account reconciliations
  • Manipulates and analyzes financial reports and records at a high level
  • Monitors timely completion of complex yields accounting duties
  • Leads the efforts of others and/or act as a technical resource
  • Provides final approval & processing of accounts payable
  • Reviews and codes employee expense reports, researches past-due or incorrect payments, distributes invoices to the appropriate department and maintains vendor master file
  • Supervises and reviews work related to accounts payable, liquid balance reporting, exchange reconciliation, pipeline transaction reporting and inventory reporting
  • Sets up amendments to contracts
  • Reconciles exchanges and book adjustments as necessary
  • Develops, analyzes and/or generates reports for plant management to review (actual vs. budgets, capital expenditures, unit operating cost, etc.)
  • Leads and reviews the preparation of income and balance sheet statements and other accounting statements and reports
  • Establishes, documents, updates, tests and monitors the company’s financial policies and procedures
  • Oversees daily credits cards and EFTS
  • Reviews and updates all freight batches
  • Maintains sufficient funds in General Accounts
  • Reconciles and records inventory and bank accounts
  • Prepares audit schedules for external auditors

Requirements

  • A minimum of 14 years of related job experience is required.
  • A minimum of a High School Diploma is required.
  • Preferred Educational Level: Bachelors Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related field is preferred. Masters or CPA is preferred.
  • Ability to perform complex accounting analysis.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft products and experience with accounting and maintenance software.
  • A broad and deep understanding of accounting practices and procedures is required.
  • Advanced ability to manage projects and assignments with extreme accuracy and efficiency.
  • May require ability to manage and analyze detailed inventory movements for multiple locations, depending on location.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with others, both written and verbal communication, ability to perform intermediate mathematical calculations, intermediate reading and writing skills.
