About the role
- Collaborates with Product Owners, Stakeholders, Solutions Architects, Data Architects, and delivery teams to translate software requirements and maintain the Business Process Architecture
- Documents, facilitates agreement on, publishes, and maintains business process models using BPMN or similar standards
- Performs research and analysis across requirement types (Business, Functional, Non-functional, Transitional) throughout the Product Development Lifecycle
- Participates in Communities of Practice; adheres to established group standards and processes
- Coaches other Business Systems Analysts and assists Senior/Principal BSAs as needed
- Follows Agile documentation principles and supports refinement, sprint planning, and backlog management in tools like Jira
- Refines product backlog, defines/splits user stories, performs story mapping, ties stories to epics, and confirms Definition of Ready
- Supports delivery team in testing, implementation, user acceptance testing, and production issue resolution
- Translates requirements into formats suitable for BDD/TDD (e.g., Gherkin/Cucumber) and may perform code searching (e.g., Swagger)
- Facilitates learning and mitigation strategies for analysis-related challenges across Scrum Teams
- May backfill as Product Owner or Scrum Master when needed
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from four-year College or university; plus, three to six years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong, hands-on Appian experience is required
- Foundational to intermediate proficiency in most Underlying Competencies (UCs) of the Business Analysis Body of Knowledge (BABOK V3.0)
- Good verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills
- Good analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
- An understanding of SQL (Depends on assignment)
- Prefer experience in Healthcare, Pharmacy Benefits Management and/or Ancillary Benefits Management, workers’ compensation and/or insurance industry
- Preferred: API, Jira, MS SQL Server, Java, Cucumber, Gherkin, Selenium, Eclipse / ItelliJ IDE
- Ability to work primarily from a home office and provide reliable high-speed internet access
- May require travel to attend meetings and visit locations throughout the country
