About the role
- Manage accounting functions including cash management, payroll accounting, accounts payable, and accounts receivable
- Perform monthly, quarterly and annual close processes and consolidation and reporting
- Ensure compliance with US GAAP, company policies, guidelines, and internal controls
- Support Director of Accounting and other operational leaders as needed
- Prepare monthly reporting packages, quarterly reporting schedules, and consolidated trial balances
- Prepare quarterly consolidated financial statements, monthly account reconciliations, and other financial schedules
- Record intercompany transactions, confirm balances, and coordinate with intercompany counterparts
- Prepare and process quarterly cash settlements
- Prepare ad hoc IRS filings, business and property tax filings, and governmental data surveys
- Prepare clear, accurate monthly financials for property owners and reconcile bank statements
- Help build annual budgets and forecasts and support property managers with financial information
- Answer questions from owners and tenants and perform ad hoc projects as needed
Requirements
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or something similar—or commensurate experience
- Previous property management accounting experience (preferred)
- Strong grasp of accounting principles and attention to detail
- Proficiency in accounting software (bonus points for Yardi or MRI)
- Comfort in Excel and other Microsoft Office tools
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Positive, can-do attitude
- Knowledge of US GAAP and internal controls
- Experience with cash management, payroll accounting, accounts payable, and accounts receivable
- Experience with month/quarter/year-end close, consolidation, and financial reconciliations
