About the role
- Provide freelance interpreting and translation services connecting bilingual and multilingual individuals with clients.
- Support language access across settings (medical, legal, educational) and bridge communication for non-English proficient clients.
- Act as a 1099 Independent Contractor: set availability, accept appointments based on schedule, and act as your own boss.
- Attend appointments Monday - Friday, 8 am - 5 pm; appointments are offered based on need and not guaranteed.
- Complete a skills assessment, background check, and onboarding to join the linguist network.
- Maintain professionalism, punctuality, adaptability, and confidentiality in varied work environments.
Requirements
- Fluency in English and target language with a comprehensive understanding of idiomatic speech and cultural patterns.
- Previous interpreting experience, preferably in medical, legal, or educational settings.
- Demonstrated professionalism, punctuality, and adaptability in the workplace.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to operate basic communication
- Flexibility to work in different settings and adapt to various work environments.
- Must be located in and authorized to work in the US (We do not offer visa sponsorship).
- High School Diploma or equivalent; or certification in interpreting or related fields.
