About the role
- Implement employee relations programs, policies, and procedures across all locations within the region, ensuring alignment in both union and non-union settings.
- Travel regularly to assigned sites to conduct proactive feedback sessions, roundtables, and listening tours, using insights to identify and address potential issues before they escalate.
- Utilize HR Acuity analytics, employee surveys, and other data sources to identify ER trends, root causes, and opportunities for proactive intervention. Develop data-driven strategies to reduce ER case volume and improve workplace culture.
- Monitor and triage reports from the Speakfully anonymous reporting hotline, conduct prompt, thorough, and impartial investigations, documenting findings and recommending resolutions.
- Manage a regional caseload of sensitive ER issues, ensuring timely follow-up and closure.
- Serve as a key point of contact for union-related matters, including grievance procedures, contract interpretation, and labor relations discussions.
- Advise management on compliance with collective bargaining agreements and union-related ER best practices.
- Coach and advise regional managers on effective performance management, conflict resolution, and consistent policy application, with particular attention to union-influenced settings.
- Assist performance managers in developing and executing performance improvement plans (PIPs), disciplinary actions, and coaching conversations.
- Deliver in-person and virtual training for managers and employees on topics such as respectful workplace practices, effective feedback, ER policies, and union awareness, where applicable.
- Partner with Legal, HR Business Partners, Labor Relations, and site leadership on high-risk and union-sensitive situations.
- Assist other areas of HR or operations as needed, providing ER expertise and support for regional initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Industrial Relations, or related field.
- 5+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 3 years specializing in employee relations, workplace investigations, and union/labor relations.
- Demonstrated experience using an HR case management system (e.g., HR Acuity, ServiceNow).
- Deep knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws (Title VII, FMLA, ADA, ADEA, FLSA, NLRA, etc.).
- Proven ability to use data and analytics to assess ER trends, measure program effectiveness, and recommend improvements.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 75% within the assigned region.
- PHR or Labor Relations certification (e.g., SHRM-SCP, SPHR), preferred.
- Experience working in a multi-site or regional HR role within a unionized setting.
- Advanced skills in HR analytics, survey tools, and data visualization (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
- Experience with Speakfully or similar anonymous reporting platforms.
