About the role
- Study mechanical, electrical, piping, plumbing and fire protection specifications to plan procedures for construction based on start/completion times and staffing requirements.
- Assist MEP Project Manager in locating and evaluating potential subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers; solicit prices and assist in bidder selection and negotiation.
- Assist in developing scopes of work, develop MEP project schedule within overall construction schedule, and prepare estimates for MEP self-performed work.
- Coordinate and manage on-site construction activities from pre-start-up to completion; schedule work, determine materials/equipment/tools needed, and secure supply sources.
- Draft subcontracts, purchase orders, changes and change orders for review; prepare reports such as cost to complete, monthly billings and status reports.
- Review all drawings (P&IDs, Mechanical, Electrical, Shop, Architectural, Structural, etc.) when issued to the field and maintain current set at all times.
- Ensure customer satisfaction; establish and maintain high safety and quality standards; enforce Gray’s safety program and QMS on site.
- Responsible for procurement of tools and materials to meet schedules; set up and close out construction site; may serve as site Safety Officer.
- Confers with and directs supervisory personnel and subcontractors to plan and execute work procedures, interpret specifications and prevent delays.
- Manage, train, and evaluate subordinate team members; indirectly manage subcontractors, consultants, and general laborers; overtime may be required.
Requirements
- Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum five years related experience and/or training.
- Must possess basic computer skills including the ability to utilize word processing, spreadsheet and e-mail applications.
- Ability and willingness to travel to project sites throughout the United States and, in some cases, outside of the U.S.
- Energetic, self-motivated individual who enjoys a team environment and has a passion for collaboration and professional development.
- Ability to frequently stand, walk, sit, use hands and arms, reach, talk and hear; climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
- Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 25 lbs, and occasionally lift or move up to 100 lbs; specific vision abilities required.
- Willingness to serve as on-site Safety Officer when not specifically assigned and participate in the company’s QMS safety program.
- Supervisory experience: manage multiple subordinate team members; plan, assign, direct work; address complaints and resolve problems.
