  • Perform design analysis on extrusion systems to ensure performance (i.e.: CFD for plastics, FEA, etc.)
  • Evaluate existing extrusion systems for optimization of durability, performance, and cost
  • Consult with Capital Engineers to create requirements and specifications for extrusion equipment, coordinate its prototype testing, and support its installation
  • Collaborate with Product Development and Process Engineering teams to ensure extrusion systems are delivering desired results for their blow-molded parts
  • Lead troubleshooting, problem solving, and failure analysis efforts related to extrusion components
  • Design experiments, conduct testing, collect data, analyze data with statistical software, and compose detailed reports on technical findings
  • Utilize instrumentation and data collection tools to measure and record physical quantities for the purpose of experimentation and solving moderate to complex problems

Requirements

  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering; other engineering degrees may be acceptable with demonstrated applicable skills
  • Minimum 5-7 years of engineering experience designing plastic extrusion equipment
  • Highly skilled in mechanical design using software for solid modeling, FEA, and CFD (e.g.: Ansys Polyflow)
  • Strong understanding of numerous scientific and engineering principals including heat transfer, fluid flow, material properties, measurement, instrumentation, and basic control systems
  • Skilled in designing and conducting experiments
  • Skilled in utilizing systematic problem solving methods (e.g.: 8D)
