About the role
- Design, build, and launch GovWell’s first mobile application, from architecture through production release.
- Choose the right tech stack (native iOS/Android, React Native, or Flutter) and set standards for mobile development.
- Collaborate with the Founding Designer to deliver an elegant, accessible, and intuitive user experience.
- Integrate seamlessly with our backend APIs, ensuring smooth and secure mobile workflows for inspectors, government staff, and residents.
- Establish mobile best practices, CI/CD pipelines, testing frameworks, and performance monitoring for reliability at scale.
- Work closely with founders to translate customer needs into high-impact mobile features.
- Iterate rapidly using feedback from real-world government deployments.
Requirements
- 3+ years of professional mobile development experience, with strong proficiency in either:
- Native iOS (Swift/Objective-C) and/or Android (Kotlin/Java), OR
- Cross-platform frameworks (React Native, Flutter).
- Experience taking a mobile app from 0 → 1, ideally at a startup or high-growth environment.
- Strong understanding of API integration, offline-first design, mobile security, and performance optimization.
- You think like a product owner, constantly asking how your work improves resident and government experiences.
- You’re comfortable working with ambiguity and defining new standards in a greenfield environment.
- You’re excited about leveraging AI models to improve both resident-facing features and your own developer workflows.
- You’d rather have a challenging adventure building something new than coast on maintenance work.
