About the role
- Monitor AFRRCS in real time to ensure continuous system availability and operational readiness across Alberta.
- Respond immediately to system events, alarms, and performance issues within a 24/7 mission critical environment.
- Analyze system behaviour to distinguish between equipment faults, environmental conditions, and operational factors.
- Apply detailed knowledge of AFRRCS technology, terrain, and user operations to determine appropriate corrective actions.
- Support the reliability of the command and control network that directly impacts first responder safety and effectiveness.
- Collaborate with internal teams and first responder agencies to ensure the system meets evolving operational needs.
- Document incidents, performance trends, and operational decisions to support continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Two-year technical diploma or related, PLUS 2 years related experience or equivalent
- Certificate in Network Administration, ASSET Electronics Technician certification, or equivalent experience
- Valid Class 5 driver’s licence (or equivalent) with the ability to tow a trailer
- Ability to work at heights exceeding 10 feet
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (22 kg)
- Willingness to work in remote locations for up to 5 consecutive days
- Ability to work a 24/7/365 shift rotation consisting of 11.43 hour shifts
- Experience operating digital Land Mobile Radio (LMR) systems with a widely dispersed architecture, supporting first responders or other high availability environments (asset)
- Experience working in a Network Operations Centre (NOC) or similar facility focused on real time system monitoring (asset)
- Experience and understanding of satellite communications systems (asset)
