About the role

  • Provide comprehensive administrative and legal support for up to five Justices of the Alberta Court of Justice
  • Managing calendars and scheduling appointments
  • Documenting and processing budgetary/claim expenses
  • Typing, formatting, editing, and proofreading judgments
  • Researching and verifying case and statute citations
  • Preparing correspondence and memoranda of a highly complex and confidential nature
  • Preparing material for court hearings
  • Handling sensitive and confidential information
  • Establishing and maintaining hard-copy and electronic filing systems
  • Handling incoming telephone inquiries and mail
  • Coordinating travel arrangements
  • Coordinating meetings and conferences
  • Scheduling judicial assignments
  • Performing backup duties for other Judicial Paralegals
  • Performing other related administrative tasks as requested

Requirements

  • A two-year diploma in a related field (e.g., Legal Assistant, Legal Administration, and Paralegal) supplemented with at least two year progressively responsible related experience
  • Previous experience as a Judicial Assistant/Paralegal/ Executive Assistant
  • A Legal Assistant Diploma
  • Previous experience working in an office setup supporting multiple lawyers
  • Experience working in a Court environment, preferably with the Court of Justice
  • Experience working in M365 environment.
  • Typing speed of at least 50 WPM desired.
