About the role

  • Report directly to the Assistant Deputy Minister/Senior Financial Officer
  • Anticipate and identify strategically significant issues
  • Develop and coordinate plans and strategies for issue responses
  • Manage urgent requests from Deputy Minister and Minister’s offices
  • Oversee divisional issues management processes
  • Lead preparation of briefing materials for senior executives
  • Establish and maintain relationships with divisional branches and stakeholders
  • Provide guidance to the Issues Coordinator

Requirements

  • University graduation in a related field plus 4 years progressively responsible related experience
  • Equivalent education or experience considered
  • Knowledge of department organizational structures and mandates
  • Strong understanding of strategic and operational planning processes
  • Expertise in developing written communication materials for diverse audiences
  • Familiarity with policy development
  • Knowledge of research and evaluation methods
