About the role
- Prepare journal entries and perform monthly accounting close activities, including general ledger reconciliations.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, fixed assets, prepaids, and lease accounting (ASC 842).
- Monitor daily chargeback operations; investigate deductions related to shortages, damages, non-compliance, and ensure appropriate credits are issued.
- Maintain compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and tax regulations.
- Communicate with vendors and customers to resolve discrepancies and ensure timely payments.
- Participate in financial audits; prepare schedules and gather requested support for audits.
- Perform data entry and general administrative tasks in support of the accounting team.
Requirements
- Proactive, problem-solving individual who can manage a varied workload with constantly changing priorities.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles (GAAP).
- Proficiency with NetSuite and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong organizational skills, time management skills, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; CPA designation highly preferred.
- 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in the apparel or consumer goods industry (60+ months).
- Experience with deductions and recoupment with big box retailers highly desirable.
- Familiarity with lease accounting (ASC 842), fixed assets, prepaids, and reconciliations.
- Ability to be onsite four days a week (Los Angeles, CA).
