About the role
- Manage the full recruitment process for managerial and plant positions (job posting, applicant screening, interviews, follow-ups), including headhunting when required
- Plan and execute employee onboarding and offboarding, and lead HR orientation sessions
- Update job descriptions and classify positions according to the internal salary/position scale
- Draft and issue all HR documents (offer letters, employment confirmations, promotions, salary adjustments, terminations)
- Compile and submit payroll information to the external payroll provider, and manage administrative follow-up of employee files (insurance, RRSP, employee changes)
- Respond to employee inquiries and apply HR policies, programs and tools on a daily basis
- Implement concrete employer brand initiatives (attraction, retention, engagement)
- Maintain HR tools and produce monitoring reports (KPIs, indicators, trends)
- Write and distribute internal HR communications (new hires, programs, announcements)
- Participate in the employee engagement/wellness committee, including implementing on-site initiatives that promote engagement, mobilization and retention
- Take full responsibility for occupational health and safety (OHS) management in the plant, including follow-up of cases, actions and OHS priorities
- Serve as liaison with the mutual prevention organization and the internal OHS committee, and perform required follow-ups (meetings, action plans, documentation)
- Be actively present on the shop floor to reinforce safe practices and ensure the application of plant standards
- Conduct OHS inspections on the shop floor, document findings and follow up on corrective actions
- Follow up on incidents and near-misses (analysis, documentation, corrective actions, communications)
- Implement and maintain plant safety programs (hearing protection, respiratory protection, working at heights, lockout/tagout, etc.)
- Coordinate employee training and keep tracking, records and skills development needs up to date
Requirements
- College diploma (DEC) in Human Resources Techniques, Administration or related field (asset)
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in an HR and OHS role, ideally in a manufacturing or food-processing environment
- Experience in recruitment, onboarding, HR administration and employee file management
- Strong interest in occupational health and safety with a hands-on, proactive approach
- Practical knowledge of OHS in a manufacturing setting, including machine and equipment safety (e.g., lockout/tagout, safe work procedures, risk prevention)
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple files concurrently
- Good communication skills and the ability to interact with tact and professionalism
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365; experience with HR systems/tools is an asset
