About the role
- Advise business teams regarding compliance with privacy and related laws
- Advise on data protection terms in agreements
- Advise on product strategy considering data protection laws
- Advise sales and marketing teams on compliance implications of marketing initiatives
- Work closely with Information Security, Data Governance, Risk, and Audit teams
- Participate in the product lifecycle by assessing product features and designs
- Drive the development of robust, scalable playbooks and self-service tools
- Develop privacy notices and customer contract templates
- Perform privacy impact assessments and contribute to maintenance of records
Requirements
- J.D. degree or equivalent degree (such as a master in law) with strong academic performance
- 3+ years experience practicing law
- Licensed to practice law in the U.S.
- Familiarity with major data privacy frameworks such as GDPR, GLBA, and CPRA
- Experience partnering with product and engineering teams to identify and facilitate the satisfaction of legal requirements throughout the product lifecycle
- Sufficient exposure to intellectual property matters
- Experience drafting contract templates and negotiation playbooks for software or payment technology products
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent issue spotting skills
- An optimistic, solutions-oriented mindset
- Capable of working in a fast-paced environment
