About the role
- Provide support and guidance in the areas of policy and procedures, employee relations and labour relations, including collective agreement interpretation and dispute resolution
- Provide confidential, professional and balanced support to operational leaders when addressing sensitive employee issues
- Participate in conversations and localized programs to understand and improve employee engagement, employee retention and reduce turnover
- Proactively work with managers and supervisors to identify potential issues
- Be the first point of contact in HR for managers, supervisors and employees for the assigned client groups
- Support organizational change initiatives for assigned client groups
- Advise managers on interpretation and administration of HR policies, programs, procedures and collective agreements
- Compile and report engagement, onboarding, retention and offboarding data to identify trends, enhance the process and develop strategies for areas of improvement.
- Investigate employee concerns and ensure follow-through from beginning to end
- Provide benefits guidance, HRIS support, reporting and auditing
Requirements
- Post-secondary degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations or related field of study
- 3 – 5 years’ experience in a Human Resources Generalist capacity, with demonstrated experience in both unionized and non-unionized workplace environments
- CPHR designation or working towards
- Knowledge and experience of current Labour Laws, the Labour Relations Code, Human Rights and Employment Standards
- Experience working with labour relations issues
- High attention to detail and a proven track record of completing project tasks
- Ability to work independently, under pressure and adapt to evolving priorities and timelines
- Customer-focused attitude, with high level of professionalism
- Project management skills
- Demonstrated ability to support and contribute to organizational change by building and leveraging professional working relationships.
