About the role
- Design, develop and test cutting-edge AI infrastructure, including data pipelines, fine-tuning frameworks and evaluation tools.
- Build and scale core AI infrastructure and tools to enable rapid development, training, fine-tuning, evaluation, and deployment of AI models across GM.
- Integrate AI technologies into GM’s business strategies, culture, and operational workflows across vehicle and manufacturing teams.
- Lead large-scale infrastructure initiatives, set technical direction, and define best practices for AI software engineering, including safety/guardrails.
- Serve as a key technical partner to research, product, and vehicle teams; collaborate with researchers and industry partners to understand requirements and measure impact.
- Provide technical guidance, lead cross-functional development efforts, mentor engineers, and foster technical growth across teams.
Requirements
- Expected to report to the Mountain View office three times per week (hybrid).
- Experience designing, building, and scaling core AI infrastructure and tools (data, compute, deployment layers).
- Experience with data pipelines, fine-tuning frameworks, evaluation tools, model training, and deployment.
- Ability to lead large-scale infrastructure initiatives and set technical direction across projects.
- Experience collaborating with research, product, vehicle, and manufacturing teams and industry partners.
- Experience defining AI best practices, including AI safety/guardrails.
- Proven ability to provide technical guidance, lead cross-functional development efforts, and mentor engineers.
- May be required to complete role-related assessments and/or pre-employment screening.
