About the role
- Draft, negotiate, and interpret complex commercial agreements, including strategic sourcing, technology, licensing, and supply‑chain‑related contracts.
- Provide legal and strategic advice to GPSC clients to advance business objectives while appropriately balancing risk.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to structure transactions, resolve legal issues, and support execution of key initiatives.
- Develop, refine, and implement contracting processes, playbooks, templates, and training to improve efficiency and consistency.
- Analyze and advise on complex, multi‑factor legal and operational issues with clarity, judgment, and an enterprise‑wide risk perspective.
- Build strong working relationships with clients, legal colleagues, and business partners across GM.
Requirements
- 6+ years of legal experience with a focus on commercial or transactional matters.
- Must be licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction; ability to obtain Michigan in‑house counsel admission if required.
- Experience advising on strategic commercial relationships or high‑value transactions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex legal concepts into clear, actionable guidance.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate across multiple legal practice groups and business functions.
- Proven track record of initiative, integrity, resilience, and managing multiple large‑scale projects.
- Experience identifying and implementing process improvements or operational efficiencies.
