Focus: Managing GM’s corporate reputation, business strategy, and leadership visibility on international, national and local level, across internal and external comms. Responsibilities Serve as senior counsel to GM senior leaders, overseeing strategic initiatives with positive impact both inside and outside of the company. Develop and execute proactive communications strategies, as well as reactively manage news cycles. Balance daily operational needs with long-term strategic priorities to ensure effective communications. Lead cross-functional collaborations to ensure cohesive and impactful messaging across all external and internal channels. Draft, produce, and edit thoughtful , creative , and multi-medium communications that deliver the right messages and engage media, employees, and other stakeholders. Lead on crafting and delivering executive communications, including speeches, presentations, and key messages. Speak regularly with reporters, acting as a resource and ensuring they understand GM’s perspective. Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of communications, leveraging insights to refine strategies. Stay informed about key issues in order to help the company see around corners and anticipate risks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree 10+ years working in communications and/or public relations Incredible written and verbal communication skills Experience working with high-level executives, preferably on the intersection of product and corporate issues Ability to proactively develop and drive a strategic communications plan while also managing tough news cycles calmly and quickly Excel at interpersonal communication and collaboration, fostering positive relationships with individuals at all levels and from diverse disciplines Confidently navigate various settings, from collaborative work groups to executive presentations Proven ability to synthesize large amounts of information and rapidly translate them into actionable solutions Exceptional project leadership skills, managing projects from start to finish and delivering high-quality results on tight deadlines Skilled in engagement strategies, content creation and multi-channel campaigns Familiarity with the sustainability space and a good sense of third-party advocacy groups that drive conversations around sustainability Outstanding written and media relations skills, leveraging creativity to engage on important issues Excellent judgment, including the ability to plan ahead to avoid a crisis and to escalate issues appropriately Ability to stay calm under pressure, move fast, and have fun along the way
