About the role
- Act as the cost optimization advocate for customers and drive optimization strategies to lower cloud spend
- Train customers on understanding cloud usage, billing patterns, and automated tools
- Provide financial operations training, drive user experience improvements, adoption of processes and FinOps education
- Support CMS Hybrid Cloud team delivering financial reports showing usage, monthly billing and funding utilization
- Collect and review financial data from various cloud sources (AWS Cost Explorer, custom tools, cloud native cost management tools)
- Create, maintain, and update financial deliverables via JIRA, Confluence, Microsoft Excel or other financial dashboards
- Analyze customer cloud requirements and provide technical knowledge on cloud computing techniques (e.g., AWS Savings Plans and Reserved Instances)
- Research, evaluate, and deploy cloud computing optimization techniques (e.g., low utilization of cloud resources)
- Assist with management of master payer accounts with 850+ linked accounts
- Provide extensive and timely customer service responses
- Participate in special projects as required
Requirements
- 3+ years of related experience
- 2+ years relevant experience in Cloud or Financial Operations
- Skills: Consulting, Cost Optimization, Customer Service, FinOps Operating Model, Forecasting
- FinOps Experience required
- Experience in Oracle Cloud (OCI) or GCP Cost analysis using deep understanding of Cost usage reports
- Expert level experience with Microsoft Excel
- Analytic/ queries understanding for cloud billing
- Experience managing various master payer account(s) with 850+ linked accounts
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience
- Must be able to pass a public trust investigation
- Effective communication skills both orally and written
- Effective organizational skills
