About the role
- Support business lines in developing new products and refining their work
- Provide legal advice related to business unit objectives
- Draft and review policy documents
- Coordinate support for assigned business units from other parts of the legal department
- Identify implications of business choices related to legal matters such as compliance and consumer-protection laws.
Requirements
- 5 to 7 years of experience at a law firm or in-house as a legal advisor or coverage counselor for property/casualty insurance products
- Law degree and active law license to practice in the United States
- Strong listening and communication skills
- Strong research and writing skills
- Ability to quickly digest and understand business plans, processes, and procedures
- Ability to provide legal advice with incomplete information
- Refined judgment about legal and legal-adjacent risks
- Must be solution-oriented with strong analytical and decision-making skills
- Experience working with cross-functional teams, both legal and non-legal.
