About the role
- Provide legal advice to the claims organization on insurance coverage issues, bad faith and extra-contractual allegations against the Companies.
- Perform factual and legal research and analysis.
- Review documents at the request of Legal Department management.
- Develop and conduct in-house presentations on research projects.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Admission to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
- 5-7 years of insurance coverage experience and litigation management experience at a law firm, government, and/or in-house role.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Up-to-date understanding of the key legal issues germane to an insurance organization.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts to non-lawyers.
- Proficiency in managing multiple priorities, projects, and stakeholders.
- Trial, motion practice and/or appellate experience.
- Experience working as a Coverage Attorney, Claims Counsel or Claims Attorney at a law firm or an insurance company.
- Experience handling coverage, bad faith or extra-contractual litigation against an insurance company.
