About the role
- The Project Plant Manager will play a key role in supporting the sales and business development by providing technical expertise in the design of electrification solutions for the HVDC Projects.
- This individual will be responsible for Onshore Plant Engineering, system design, material selection, quantity estimation, various engineering activities associated for a project and customer technical consultations.
- The candidate will also ensure that the proposed solutions meet customer needs while adhering to industry standards, safety regulations, quality requirements and cost-efficiency objectives.
- The candidate shall execute with association of workgroups, where applicable, in order to meet assigned objectives.
- In this role, the candidate will work within defined parameters to make decisions, apply concepts to issues of moderate complexity, and resolve issues through immediate action or short-term planning.
- The candidate ensures leadership, skills development and motivation of the teams, manages engineering workload plan of the region, allocates keys resources on the projects, defines with Operations make or buy strategy for engineering activities.
- Candidate aligns processes and tools spanning ITO and OTR phases with Project Engineering function.
- The candidate will work with GSI Global Engineering Centre (GSI GEC) to coordinate with the GSI Regions / Business Lines / as per Project requirement.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field, from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum of 15+ years of experience in EHV/ HV AIS & GIS Substation design.
- Good understanding of power system components (transformers, switchgear, protection systems) and renewable energy integration.
- Good knowledge of Autodesk CAD tools Revit, ACC & Navisworks.
- Onshore Plant Engineering experience for HVDC projects (VSC/ LCC).
- Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to balance technical requirements and business needs.
- Ability to work collaboratively across teams and with clients.
- Ability to guide/groom team and execute project in line with client/project requirement.
- Ability to expand the competency domain, being able to take new learning challenges.
- Good knowledge of Engineering interface with Civil, Mechanical & Secondary Engineering.
- Successful experience in management of engineering teams.
- Strong influencing and relationship building skills.
- Knowledge of project execution risks and financial processes.
- Willingness to work in different locations for short or medium period and to travel in the region (Global).
- Demonstrated presentation skills and ability to succinctly communicate complex messages.
- Demonstrated ability to lead in an unstructured environment and deliver results.
- Demonstrates ownership & accountability, judgment and decision making, influences & inspires team, creates a vision and strategy, and has passion for the role.
- Global experience and mindset including high technical cultural competence and sensitivity.
