About the role

  • Serve as primary point of contact for students, faculty, staff, and alumni at Luther Seminary (Service Desk)
  • Provide event assistance and hospitality; assist with event setup and teardown
  • Perform administration and general office duties including answering phones, filing, and checking Info email hourly
  • Conduct rounds to check status of facilities and perform bathroom inspections
  • Provide building access assistance and receive packages
  • Communicate and escalate facility, operations, and technology issues; escalate emergencies to 911 immediately
  • Make and check on Cafe Coffee Service each weekday
  • Perform custodial services: routine cleaning, trash and recycling management, and deep cleaning projects
  • Support campus Supply/Mail Center by stocking shelves and sorting mail
  • Move and arrange furniture and equipment for events and clean up after events
  • Perform light maintenance and grounds duties: landscaping, mowing, leaf removal, snow clearing, and operate powered/non-powered equipment
  • Perform manual labor tasks including demolition, moving materials/equipment, and painting prep and application
  • Accountable to the Director of Operations and may take direction from other Operations staff as designated

  • Ability to describe problems as well as solutions on the phone
  • Must be able to read and write English
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
  • Expected to be on campus during peak periods: September, January, May and June
  • Students must be committed to a regular work schedule for the semester; some evenings and weekend work is required
  • Punctuality and advance notice required for time off
  • Desired: Experience working independently
  • Desired: An interest in learning about technology and A/V equipment
  • Desired: Effective troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
