About the role

  • Inform Fresenius Medical Care entities and employees of their obligations under applicable data protection laws
  • Embed privacy by design and by default in processes and projects involving patient data
  • Support definition of privacy-compliant product design in partnership with IT security
  • Implement privacy safeguards: draft/ negotiate data processing agreements, provide privacy notices/consents, conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments
  • Draft, review and negotiate data processing and transfer agreements with vendors and confidentiality agreements (including transfer impact assessments)
  • Enhance awareness via targeted training and awareness activities related to personal data protection
  • Act as resident legal expert/resource for Segments/Functions and project teams on regulatory aspects of IT, digital capabilities, AI and machine learning
  • Monitor legal developments and interact with government affairs where relevant
  • Identify and analyze legal risks and options for digital & privacy projects
  • Support FME’s digital strategy and development of next-generation products & services
  • Advise the business on initiatives involving processing of personal data, embedding privacy by design and by default

Requirements

  • Law degree obtained in an EU jurisdiction
  • CIPP/E or CIPP/US or CIPM certification desired
  • Min. 6 years of experience
  • Strong business ethics; ability to remain impartial and report all non-compliances
  • Sound and practical business judgment; give pragmatic, risk-based advice in grey areas
  • Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with demanding internal clients and stakeholders
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage a high-volume workload in a fast-paced and demanding work environment
  • Collaborative team player with ability to work independently
  • Knowledge of data processing operations in healthcare and Medtech industry (not mandatory but appreciated)
  • Expert knowledge of GDPR, national data protection and IT laws
  • Excellent English; other languages an advantage
  • Excellent knowledge of MS-Office (especially Excel); experience with document/knowledge management software (especially SharePoint and Confluence)
