About the role

  • Lead and manage the Lead Counsels across four Hub locations
  • Mentor, coach, and develop the legal teams
  • Identify opportunities for synergies and shared learnings across Hub locations
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with Hub Leadership Teams
  • Provide input into Flutter-wide legal frameworks, policies, and governance standards
  • Participate in group-level steering committees or cross-functional initiatives
  • Provide commercial and strategic legal advice to the Cluj Leadership Team
  • Lead on all employment law matters
  • Draft, review, and negotiate key commercial contracts
  • Oversee all other legal matters in Betfair Romania including litigation, data protection, IP, compliance, and governance

Requirements

  • Qualified lawyer with 10+ years post-qualification experience
  • Strong experience preferably with an international element in a technology driven sector, in areas such as commercial contracts, employment law, and litigation
  • Proven expertise in commercial contracts, labour law, employment law, and ideally, litigation and corporate governance
  • Demonstrated experience leading legal teams across multiple locations or within a matrixed organisation
  • Experience advising sizable businesses on complex legal matters in a dynamic environment
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken); additional language skills are a plus
  • Extensive experience of internal and external stakeholder management
  • Experience of leading a team, preferably in a global context
  • Skilled at balancing legal risk and commercial priorities
  • Cross-cultural competence and experience working across multiple jurisdictions and time zones
