About the role
- Scheduling patient appointments, receiving and processing outpatients, and collecting and communicating patient demographic/insurance information
- Data entry of patient services and co-payments, payment reconciliation and deposit
- Processing referrals, addressing prescription concerns, communicating with local pharmacies, and addressing prior authorization requests
- Answering phone lines and managing assigned telephone lines, taking messages, transferring calls, and following up on voice mail
- Confirming appointments and reminding patients to bring referrals/records; scheduling follow-ups and coordinating physician notes or referrals
- Collecting co-payments, posting payments, issuing receipts, and noting cancellations/missed appointments in electronic chart and rescheduling
- Supporting departmental and clinical team initiatives, maintaining confidentiality and unit compliance, and improving patient care through adherence to safety and quality standards
- Any other duties as assigned; assist patients, providers, department staff and other clinical staff with questions or problems as appropriate
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree preferred or equivalent in years of experience
- Two years of administrative/front desk experience preferred, including knowledge of medical terminology/abbreviations and physician office/hospital operations
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Ability to work independently, with a strong work ethic, self-motivation and problem-solving skills
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
