About the role

  • Systems engineering for exterior vehicle lighting spanning mechanical, electrical, software, and optics
  • Define requirements, product design, tooling, validation testing, and launch in assembly plants across a vehicle’s lifecycle
  • Generate and execute technical solutions for exterior lighting components to support new vehicle programs
  • Perform complex engineering evaluation and analysis
  • Work cross-functionally to implement cost savings, product improvements, and support prototype and production build activities
  • Balance attributes such as cost, weight, complexity, and timing
  • Manage production release of systems, subsystems, components, and features
  • Develop core requirements and technology
  • Communicate with internal and external organizations and lead team meetings (suppliers, designers, engineers, manufacturing, supplier quality, etc.)
  • Travel as required (including international)

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Optical, or Software Engineering or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
  • 2+ years of related automotive and/or lighting applications experience (inclusive of professional, co-op, and internship positions)
  • Ability to travel domestic and international
  • Master’s Degree or other Advanced Degree (preferred)
  • Familiarity with the engineering design of exterior lighting components (preferred)
  • Familiarity with Design For Six Sigma process (preferred)
  • Experience with DFMEA, GD&T, and ISO standards (preferred)
  • Knowledge of plastic materials, plastic injection molding, optics, basic electrical/electronic circuitry, software, lamp manufacturing processes, tooling, fixture design and product validation (preferred)
  • Knowledge of global lighting regulations (preferred)
