About the role

  • Drive regional/vertical growth by setting strategy and targets.
  • Lead and coach BD Directors/Senior Directors, and own high-impact pursuits.
  • Align client needs with site capabilities.
  • Manage pipeline health and revenue forecasts.
  • Guide deals from qualification through negotiation and close.
  • Cultivate executive relationships with sponsors/CROs.
  • Represent the company at industry forums.
  • Develop BD talent for scalable revenue expansion.
  • Manage and grow client relationships and strategic partnerships.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Finance, and Commercial Operations.
  • Oversee sales pipeline reporting and revenue forecasting for assigned segment.
  • Identify market trends and emerging opportunities for network expansion.
  • Build and manage sales pipeline using CRM tools and reporting systems.
  • Develop and execute account strategies with key sponsors, CROs, or therapeutic area partners.
  • Track market trends and recommend channel-specific strategies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or relevant advanced degree strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive business development experience in clinical research or life sciences.
  • Proven leadership and team development experience.
  • Consistent record of meeting/exceeding sales targets.
  • Expertise with CRM systems, reporting, and data-driven decision making.
  • Experience managing both net-new business and strategic accounts, including complex negotiations.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and executive reporting skills.
  • Exceptional sales performance and executive leadership/strategic planning.
  • Major account development (new and existing relationships).
  • Cross-functional collaboration and alignment with Operations.
  • Market trend analysis; commercial forecasting and reporting.
  • Team leadership and development; process improvement mindset.
  • Strong problem-solving, risk assessment, and impact analysis.
  • Flexible, able to multitask and prioritize competing demands; independent thinker with influence.
  • Proficiency with CRM platforms and Office 365 applications.
